LFTM with Fiber on Main

We love a community project (and we know you all do, too). This episode of Live from the Mill welcomes Rachel from Fiber on Main, a very special yarn store and collaborative workspace located in Hurleyville, NY. At Fiber on Main, they host classes and workshops, from beginning knitting and weaving to basket making, spinning and felting. The studio is open to the public and also features a dye garden and community compost bin! Fiber on Main is also able to offer individuals at the Center for Discovery prevocational retail experience and a chance to share their work with the public*.

Individuals spend time in the studio weaving, felting, knitting, repairing sewing machines, mending and pursuing individual projects. Hear about the yarn we've been spinning for Fiber on Main to use in their knitting machine program, about their "Baa to Beanie" project, and so much more in this great episode.

Also noted in this video is a community project we're participating in with the @hudsonvalleytextileproject1619 and Sara Pomegranate of Yarns at Yin Hoo. We discuss this in the video but you can find more information on this project here: https://www.hvtextileproject.org/blog...

In Attendance:

Rachel // Fiber on Main https://www.instagram.com/fiberonmain/

Mary Jeanne Packer // Battenkill Fibers

Hannah Howard // Battenkill Fibers

The Fiber on Main website is under construction currently, but will be relaunched soon--we're looking forward to seeing it!

*please note in the video that Hannah incorrectly says that individuals are disabled, but this is not the case; Center for Discovery serves many individuals from a variety of situations and needs and disability is both too broad and too narrow a term to describe many of the CFD participants! My apologies!
